The 100 Cols route has been developed by the Dutch Stichting Honderd Cols Tocht touring club to be the ultimate challenge for the road rider.  The route passes through all the great mountainous areas of France, passing over all the big cols on the way and is an enormous undertaking for any rider.

The ride was undertaken during June and July 2005 by John Rigby-Jones, a keen cyclist from Keighley, Yorkshire and co-founder of AlpineZebra.  The inspiration for the ride was to raise money for Cancer Research UK whose fantastic work is so important for the many people whose lives are touched by this awful disease.

John completed the ride in 36 days (198 hours), cycling an average of 118km (74 miles) each day at an average speed of 21.5 kph .  Apart from 4 days in the Pyrenees when his parents provided back up he completed the ride totally unsupported carrying his luggage (10kg) in panniers.

Please browse the website, check out how John got on the diary pages, examine his route, check out the rider and read John's personal message.

John would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who sponsored him so generously and will be updating the website with the total raised in the near future.
